We offer a rare plant of the clove tree (Syzygium aromaticum), a tree whose unopened flower buds produce the well-known spice – cloves.
Cloves have been among the most valuable spices in the world for centuries. They are used not only in cooking, but also in traditional medicine and in the production of clove oil, which is known for its aromatic and numbing effects.
Cloves come from the tropical rainforests of the Moluccas Islands in Indonesia, which are still considered the historical homeland of this species. In nature, they can grow up to around 12 meters, but when grown in a container, they remain significantly smaller and can be maintained as an attractive collection plant for a long time.
The plant requires heat, higher humidity and regular watering. It thrives best in a bright interior, winter garden or heated greenhouse. Due to its origin, it is not frost-resistant.
Clove is one of the less commonly grown tropical fruit and spice species and is rarely found in collections.
