Spondias dulcis, also known as dwarf Ambarella, is an extremely interesting tropical fruit plant that stands out for its very fast growth, early fruiting and abundant harvest. The dwarf form offered is ideal for growing in containers at home by the window or in the winter garden, where it does not take up as much space as regular varieties.
If you are looking for a tropical fruit plant that will reward you with fruit in record time, Ambarella is a great choice. This variety can surprise you with its extremely early onset of fruiting. The first buds can appear approximately six months after germination and even a small plant can produce several dozen fruits. It is thanks to this characteristic that it is one of the fastest-fruiting tropical fruit species.
The fruits ripen to a golden yellow color and have a juicy, pleasantly crunchy pulp. Their taste resembles a combination of pineapple and mango with a gentle refreshing acidity. They are rich in vitamins A, B and C and in tropical countries are eaten fresh or used to prepare juices, jams and other fruit specialties.
The plant forms a dense bush or small tree with decorative leaves. It thrives best in a sunny location in a well-drained substrate with regular watering.
A great advantage is self-pollination, so no other plant is needed to produce fruits.
Dwarf Ambarella is one of the most grateful tropical fruit species for home cultivation and will delight every lover of exotic fruits with its rapid fertility and high yield.
