Solanum sp. "Mata Escura" represents one of the most interesting botanical novelties to appear among collectors in recent years. This species, which has not yet been scientifically described, was discovered in the strictly protected Mata Escura nature reserve in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais—an area safeguarding the last remnants of the original Atlantic rainforest. The seeds for our plants originate from this very location.
Its most surprising feature is its unusual fruit. When sliced open, the fruit resembles a passion fruit, revealing a juicy, sweet-and-sour pulp with a very pleasant, refreshing flavor.
As the species has not yet been scientifically described, it is a true collector's rarity, seldom found outside Brazil. It is an ideal choice for growers who enjoy discovering unknown species and expanding their collections with truly unique plants.
The plant requires a warm location; we recommend maintaining a minimum temperature of 10°C during the winter. With proper care, it will reward you not only with its attractive appearance but also, in time, with unique fruit that few people have ever had the chance to taste.

Cultivation guide for Solanum sp. "Mata Escura":
Substrate:
Ideally slightly acidic and well-draining.
Recommended mix: 2 parts peat, 1 part perlite, a little sand.
Watering:
Keep the substrate consistently slightly moist.
Reduce watering in winter; discard any excess water from the saucer after watering. Growing location:
Indoors year-round: As close to a window as possible, with plenty of light.
Summering outdoors (terrace, garden, or balcony) is possible only from spring to autumn: Partial shade.
Overwintering:
Tropical plant – cannot tolerate temperatures below 10°C for extended periods. Overwinter at a minimum temperature of 10°C.
For the winter, place in a living room, bedroom, hallway, conservatory, or heated greenhouse—always as close to a window as possible.
Fertilization:
Standard water-soluble or granular fertilizers.
