Rio Grande Orange Cherry (Eugenia aff. involucrata 'Orange')
A rare and extremely attractive tropical fruit plant that will impress not only with its bright orange fruits, but also with its exceptionally delicate and sweet taste. Don't expect the taste of a classic cherry - the fruit resembles an apricot with notes of mango and orange. It is less bitter than the red form of the Rio Grande cherry and will truly surprise with its fruity lightness.
It grows faster than the classic red variety and bears fruit in approximately three years. When mature, it reaches a height of around 60 to 150 cm. It copes surprisingly well with even mild frosts and is suitable for growing in a container.
It usually blooms in spring and autumn, with the first flowers appearing in two to three years. The fruits ripen in about 1-2 months and reach a sweetness of up to 22 brix.
The Rio Grande Orange Cherry is a real collector's item. Ideal for tropical plant lovers looking for something truly unusual.

Instructions for growing Orange Cherry Rio Grande
Substrate:
Preferably acidic and well-drained
Recommended mixture: 2 parts peat, 1 part perlite, a little sand
Watering:
Water only when the substrate dries out slightly
In winter, reduce watering, pour out excess water from the tray after watering.
Growing location:
Year-round at home: As close to a window as possible, with plenty of light.
Summering is possible outside on a terrace, garden, or balcony, only from spring to autumn: Partial shade, later full sun.
Wintering:
Tropical plant - cannot tolerate temperatures below 10°C for a long time. Winter at min. temperature 15C and above
Place in the living room, bedroom, hallway, winter garden or tempered greenhouse for the winter, always as close to the window as possible
Fertilization:
Fertilizers Ordinary water-soluble or granular
Suitable fertilizer: long-term granular fertilizer OSMOCOTE
