Myrciaria strigipes - beach jaboticaba 29€

Out of stock Preparing to spring 2026

Myrciaria strigipes - the beach Jaboticaba, is a plant that can enchant at first sight - and even more so at first taste. This rare species from the coast of eastern Brazil, known as cambucá da praia, grows in wild sandy "restingas", where it has acquired incredible resilience while maintaining the delicate, sweet soul of the tropics. It is a compact evergreen shrub or small tree with a charming branch structure, beautiful leaves and a fragrance that will transport you straight to the ocean.

The fruits are what make Myrciaria strigipes a real treat. Round, yellow, juicy - with a pulp so delicious that it is considered one of the best within the Myrciaria genus. Many growers even claim that it tastes better than the famous Myrciaria glazioviana: it is sweeter, more fragrant, with a fuller flavor and a better pulp-to-seed ratio. The first fruits outside of Brazil have aroused enormous interest - and no wonder. The taste is long-lasting, balanced and completely unmistakable.

The plant is naturally more compact than the glazioviana, and it also tolerates cold a little better – for a short time down to around –1 °C. However, it is advisable to keep it above 10 °C during the winter. It grows slower, but bears fruit early, already 3-5 years after planting. Its white fragrant flowers attract bees, the leaves have a decorative appearance and the whole bush looks elegant and exotic even in a pot.

Myrciaria strigipes is rare, endangered and extremely valuable. If you are looking for a tropical plant that combines beauty, exceptional taste and real collector's value, this "beach jaboticaba" is one of the best choices you can give to your collection.
