Myrciaria sp. "Cabeludinha Preta" (Blue Glomerata)
We offer a more than a year old, fully acclimatized plant of one of the rarest myrciarias currently appearing among collectors.
Myrciaria sp. "Cabeludinha Preta" comes from the Brazilian state of Bahia and does not yet have a scientific name. It was found near the occurrence of Myrciaria caerulescens, but its fruits are completely different.
The plant forms a compact tree or larger shrub, which usually grows to around 2 meters, and is therefore also suitable for long-term cultivation in containers. In the first years it grows more slowly, but later it forms a dense and attractive crown.
The most interesting thing is its unusual fruits. They are round, slightly downy and resemble the well-known Cabeluda in appearance. Unlike it, however, they ripen to a dark purple to almost black color. The taste is sweet and sour, juicy and very pleasant.
The species comes from an area with long periods of drought, rich iron soil and a high proportion of quartz sand. Thanks to this, it can tolerate even longer periods without watering. Although it is drought-resistant, we recommend temperatures not falling below 15 °C during wintering.
The offered plant has been grown in our conditions for more than a year, it is fully acclimatized, healthy and well-rooted.
Myrciaria sp. "Cabeludinha Preta" is a real rarity and appears only very rarely in collections of rare fruit plants.
