We offer a two-year-old plant of Myrcianthes pungens (Guabiyú), a rare fruit tree native to South America. The plant was grown from seeds marked as sp., so future fruits may differ slightly from the common form of this species.
Guabiyú is valued for its dark purple fruits with beautifully orange, juicy and sweet flesh. The fruits are rich in antioxidants and are among the lesser-known, but very interesting fruits of South America.
A great advantage of this species is its high resistance to cold. Our five-year-old mother plant overwintered in an unheated greenhouse this year without losing a single leaf and showed no signs of damage in the spring. It is precisely thanks to this property that Myrcianthes pungens is very interesting for growing not only in containers, but in the future perhaps also in open ground with appropriate winter protection.
The offered plant is healthy, well-rooted and ready for further growth. Thanks to its unpretentiousness, it is suitable for both experienced collectors and novice growers of exotic plants.
