Kadsura coccinea, one of the greatest rarities among exotic fruits, is an exceptional fruit vine originating from southern China and southeast Asia, which is gaining popularity thanks to its beautiful and very tasty fruits. They grow up to 10 cm in diameter, have a deep red to purple color and consist of many segments. Their creamy to gel-like pulp offers a sweet, slightly sour taste with a pleasant floral aroma.
The plant creates an attractive evergreen vine suitable for greenhouses, winter gardens and larger containers with support. It thrives best in partial shade, where it creates dense and healthy growth.
A great advantage of Kadsura is its surprising resistance. We have personally tested that even in our conditions in northern Czech Republic, we successfully grow it all year round in an unheated greenhouse, where it can handle the winter season without any problems. Thanks to this, it is one of the most promising exotic fruit species for cultivation in the Czech Republic.
Kadsura coccinea is an ideal choice for growers looking for something truly unusual. Combining exotic looks, delicious fruit, and more hardiness than you would expect from a tropical vine, Kadsura coccinea is a plant that will grace any collection while offering fruits that most people have never tasted.
