Fruta do Mistério (Eugenia sp.) – "Mystery Fruit 24 €

Tip

Fruta do Mistério (Eugenia sp.) – "Mystery Fruit" is an extremely attractive and compact tropical plant that has gained great popularity among collectors and growers. Interestingly, scientists argued for a long time whether it belongs to the genus Syzygium or Eugenia – that is why it began to be called "Fruta do Mistério" (mystery fruit), because it was not clear where to classify it botanically. Today, most experts agree that it is a eugenia.

It grows as an exceptionally compact, small shrub, making it ideal for cultivation in pots and small spaces. Its greatest asset is precisely its diminutive size—you can confidently grow it long-term on a bright windowsill or indoors without it ever outgrowing its allotted space. There is no need to worry about a small seedling eventually turning into a large tree; it retains its naturally compact habit even at maturity, making it one of the best choices for anyone wishing to enjoy their own tropical fruit without having a garden.

The fruits are smaller (approx. 1.5 cm), distinctly scarlet red and very sweet. The plant bears fruit repeatedly throughout the year, so you can look forward to a regular harvest. Another great advantage is the rapid onset of fruiting – often as early as 2 years, which is exceptional for tropical plants.

Growing is easy – all you need is a permeable, nutritious substrate and a sunny to bright location. The plant adapts well to conditions in a container and is also suitable for less experienced growers.

A must have for every lover of exotic plants!

It combines minimal space requirements, fast fruiting, repeated harvest and excellent fruit taste. If you are looking for a small, undemanding and yet highly productive plant for an apartment, greenhouse or terrace, Fruta do Mistério is the clear choice.
