Eugenia hirta is one of the rare eugenias that will win you over not only with its tasty fruits, but also with how willingly and early it bears fruit. Only a few species can bloom at such a young age - it is no exception that this plant blooms after about a year to a year and a half of cultivation, even in a small liter pot.
It comes from the humid tropical forests of eastern Brazil and naturally remains compact, which makes it an ideal plant for growing in a container at home, in a greenhouse or winter garden. Thanks to its dense growth, smaller leaves and good tolerance to cutting, it is also very suitable for bonsai cultivation. Its finely hairy leaves look very exotic and decorative all year round, even when it is not bearing fruit.
The fruits are small, orange to red, juicy and surprisingly sweet. The taste is pleasant, without pronounced acidity or bitterness, with a delicate berry aroma. It is precisely this combination of taste and very early fruiting that makes Eugenia hirta a popular collector's species.

The plant requires a very permeable substrate and does not tolerate prolonged waterlogging. It thrives best in a bright place with regular but reasonable watering. During the winter, we recommend temperatures of at least around 10 °C. With proper care, it will be rewarded with abundant flowering, an abundance of white flowers and subsequently attractive fruits.
Eugenia hirta is an ideal choice for anyone looking for a rarer tropical plant suitable for smaller spaces and wants to see its own fruits really soon.
