Eugenia dentata is an extremely rare Brazilian eugenia that attracts attention not only for its beautiful orange fruits, but also for its elegant tropical appearance and surprisingly easy cultivation. This rare species comes from northern and northeastern Brazil, where it grows in the mountain forests of the Amazon and the transitional areas of the states of Amazonas, Pará, Maranhão and Ceará. It rarely appears in European collections and is a real collector's item.
Interestingly, it was incorrectly referred to as Eugenia parkeriana for a long time. However, a recent taxonomic revision (Sobral et al., 2025) showed that this designation was used incorrectly and the plant was correctly renamed Eugenia dentata. The name Eugenia parkeriana is now associated with another taxon, considered a synonym of Eugenia uniflora. Eugenia dentata is therefore a completely separate and distinct species with its own characteristic features, appearance and fruits.
Eugenia Dentata when grown in a pot forms a smaller, compact shrub that begins to bear fruit at a young age. Our offered plant has passed its most sensitive growth period and continues to develop rapidly.
The biggest attraction is its distinctive orange fruits measuring 2.5–3 cm in size with very noticeable ribbing. The fruits have eight distinctive ribs and narrow sepals, which are widened at the top and elegantly folded back. The flesh is juicy, sweet and very pleasant, ideal for direct consumption.
Eugenia dentata is a true collector's gem - a combination of rarity, beauty and tasty fruits that you won't find anywhere else. If you are looking for an exceptional tropical species with beautiful fruits and real botanical value, this plant will excite you.
We offer a fully grown, approximately 3-year-old plant that grows without any problems and is ready for the gradual onset of fruiting.
