We offer a three-year-old plant of the extremely rare species Eugenia anomala, also known as Ubá-Peva, originating from the open areas of the Cerrado and pampas of southeastern Brazil.
It is a small shrub with low growth, so it is a very suitable plant for growing in a pot. The bark of the stems is gray with whitish spots.
The fruits are more interesting - initially they have a wrinkled skin, which smoothes out when ripe. They reach a size of up to 4.5–6.2 cm. The taste is juicy and sour, with notes reminiscent of pineapple, uvaia. They ripen from October to December and are suitable for direct consumption and further processing, for example, into juices, jellies or ice cream.
Ubá-Peva is a slow-growing species that tolerates drought and short-term frosts down to about -6 °C. It prefers acidic, well-drained soils and is also suitable for growing in containers. Due to its rarity, this species is among the most highly valued collection plants and is found only exceptionally in collections.
The offered plant is three years old, healthy and ready for further growth.
