Plinia Rara is extremely rare Plinia – the holy grail among jaboticabas
Only two plants available !!! Probably the only chance to own this gem...
This plant is one of the rarest Plinias in the world and has rightly earned the title "the holy grail among jaboticabas". Only a few people around the world have this gem in their collection and its occurrence is extremely limited. This Jaboticaba comes from Brazil, from the Uruçuca region of Bahia, where it grows in heavy clay soil.
It is an understory tree growing to around 2.5 meters tall, which is known for its very large fruits. These can reach a size comparable to a baseball. The fruits are firm, green and highly prized for their characteristic taste reminiscent of green apple candy.
The way it bears fruit is also unique – the tree flowers and bears fruit from a long, rope-like branch that lies directly on the forest floor. This is one of the most remarkable and interesting adaptations in the plant world.
This plinia is endemic to the Atlantic Forest in southern Bahia, where it grows inland. It flowers several times a year and its fruits change color to green-yellow when ripe, hiding a soft, creamy flesh and offering an exceptionally delicious taste.
Due to deforestation, its natural populations are constantly decreasing, which makes this plant not only an extremely rare but also an endangered species. In addition to its exceptional fruits, it also stands out for the undeniable beauty of its leaves, which are an ornament in themselves.
If you are looking for a real gem among tropical plants, this Jaboticaba is the rarest and most interesting choice you can get for your collection.
