This rare species of dwarf Inga is one of the most interesting types of ice cream beans that you can grow in a pot. It grows slowly and remains compact, usually up to 1.5-2 meters in height when grown in the ground. Thanks to its dwarf size, it is ideal for our growing conditions at home by the window, where it grows as a shrub, up to a size of about 100 cm. It blooms profusely with beautiful pink flowers and soon after bears delicious fruits with fluffy white flesh, which tastes like sweet ice cream or cotton candy. The fruits are eaten fresh straight from the tree and are a popular specialty throughout Brazil.
Inga Vulpina comes from the higher regions of Brazil, which makes it tolerate milder cold and is more resistant than the better-known species Inga edulis. Adult plants can withstand temperatures down to -3 °C for a short time, but we recommend protecting younger plants in winter and growing them at temperatures above 10 °C.
Growing it is easy - all you need is enough light, regular watering and warmth. It does not require special care and can delight you with an exotic harvest in the third year. An ideal choice for anyone who wants to have their own piece of the tropics in their living room and taste the true sweetness of nature.
