Eugenia itaguahiensis – Dwarf Grumichama 24€

Out of stock Preparing to spring 2025

A rare, early-fruiting pearl from Brazil, ideal for a flowerpot.

Discover the magic of the dwarf Grumichama – a beautiful shrub or small tree that will delight you with its elegance and sweet fruits. Eugenia itaguahiensis comes from the Guanabara Bay area in Rio de Janeiro and is a true botanical gem that has once again attracted the attention of experts after 2021. It stands out for its early fruiting, attractive appearance and rich spectrum of health benefits.

The plant has dark green, shiny leaves, which shine with a reddish hue when young, and in spring it is covered with numerous white flowers. During the summer, these turn into round black fruits with a diameter of about 2.5 cm, with a thin, wrinkled skin and yellow, sweetly juicy flesh. The fruits are delicious, pleasantly refreshing and delicious not only fresh, but also in juices, jellies and desserts.

Eugenia itaguahiensis grows to a height of about 3 meters in the ground, but in a pot it maintains a compact growth, usually up to 80 cm. Thanks to this, it is suitable for home, terrace, balcony and as an exotic bonsai. With proper care, it starts to bear fruit from the age of 4. It can withstand short-term mild frosts (down to -2 to -4 °C), but for safe wintering it is recommended to place it in a bright room with a temperature above 10 °C.

In addition to its ornamental value, it also offers a number of health benefits: it supports the health of the skin, bones, teeth and gums, helps reduce blood sugar levels and, thanks to its thiamine content, it also supports healthy eyesight.

Dwarf grumichama is ideal for anyone who wants to grow tropical fruit even in small spaces.

Easy to care for, beautiful to look at and also tasty - a perfect addition to any collection.

The seedlings come from the seeds of fruits harvested from our mother plant grown in northern Czech Republik.
