The Rio Grande cherry, or Eugenia aggregata or Eugenia involucrata COTR, is an exotic fruit plant that can brighten up any interior or garden. It comes from Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay and grows as a dense shrub or small tree.
Our seedlings come from our own tree, which produces exceptionally large and tasty fruits of a dark purple, even black color. This tree is exceptionally vital, heavily fruitful and very fertile - it bears an abundance of juicy and sweet fruits, the quality and size of which can now be obtained by you. The seedlings are only available in limited quantities, so we recommend that you do not hesitate.
Growing is surprisingly easy. This plant also feels good in a pot, so you can grow it at home by the window, on the balcony or in the winter garden. It has evergreen, dark green leaves with a waxy sheen, and in older plants the bark peels off, creating an elegant smooth trunk. It blooms with fragrant white flowers that bloom in spring and later turn into elongated, purple-black
This plant is not only beautiful to look at, but also offers a real treat full of health benefits. The fruits contain high amounts of vitamin C and A, potassium, magnesium, iron and fiber. They strengthen the immune system, benefit the skin, help against inflammation and support healthy blood circulation. Older plants are said to withstand temperatures down to -10 °C for a short time. It begins to bear fruit in 3 to 5 years
Growing a Rio Grande cherry is an experience that combines the beauty of the tropics with the comfort of your home. Watch from the couch how it grows, blooms and bears fruit, and then enjoy the sweet reward of your own harvest.
