Cordia taguahyensis – Brazilian milk fruit
An exotic rarity from the tropical forests of Brazil, which attracts with its sweet, creamy white fruits and decorative appearance. Cordia taguahyensis is a fast-growing shrub or small tree that bears fruit in the tropics in just 10–12 months. Thanks to its continuous growth even during winter and high resistance, it is a very interesting choice for collectors of tropical fruits and for growing in pots in our country.
The plant loves water and thrives in permeable, nutritious soil. It grows lushly, naturally forms a bushy shape, so we recommend light shaping, otherwise the branches reach the ground. In the greenhouse, it has survived temperatures around 0 °C without damage, which is evidence of its exceptional resistance.
The fruits are slightly sweet, sticky, with a flavor reminiscent of condensed milk and a slight sour aftertaste. They ripen very quickly - from flower to fruit it takes about one month. The flowers are also edible, although more decorative than flavorful.
Cordia taguahyensis is a beautiful and practical plant. The white tubular flowers and shiny, leathery leaves give it an attractive appearance. It is a great choice for anyone who wants to grow something unusual, tasty and aesthetically exceptional.
