A Sweet Tropical Wonder with a Custard, Banana and Peach Flavor

The white sapota, also known as the Mexican apple or Casimiroa edulis, is one of the rarest and most delicious tropical fruit trees you can grow at home. This unique fruit is native to Central America and Mexico, where it has been popular for centuries due to its exceptionally mild flavor and creamy consistency. The apple-sized fruits hide a pulp that literally melts in your mouth – smooth as pudding, sweet and velvety, with notes of banana, pear, peach and a delicate vanilla aftertaste.

The white sapota tree has a beautiful, tropical appearance – shiny, dark green, pinnate leaves and an elegant crown that can be easily shaped for growing in a pot where it can also be maintained as a compact tree around 2 meters tall.

Growing white sapote is surprisingly easy. Young plants need protection from frost in the first few years, but mature specimens can handle short-term cooling down to -6 °C. It can therefore be wintered like citrus. In a pot, it thrives in a nutritious, slightly acidic substrate and a deep container, because it has strong, vertically growing roots.

Our mother plant began to bear fruit for the first time in the third year after planting the seed.

The ripe fruits have a thin, smooth skin, which can be green, yellow or orange, and are so delicate that they are best eaten with a spoon directly from the fruit.

White sapote is a plant that delights all the senses - with taste, aroma and beauty.
