Annona Atemoya - Pineapple sugar apple 12€

Out of stock Preparing to atumn 2025

Atemoya is an extremely interesting tropical fruit tree resulting from the crossing of cherimoya (Annona cherimola) and sugar apple (Annona squamosa). This hybrid combines the best of both species – excellent taste, creamy flesh and surprising resistance. It comes from Florida, where it was bred in 1908, and today it is one of the most popular tropical fruit plants in the world.

The plant produces elegant branches with shiny, elliptical leaves and blooms with light yellow flowers in spring. These are hermaphroditic – the first day they function as female and the second day as male. Thanks to this, Atemoya can be easily pollinated by hand, which guarantees a rich harvest.

The fruits are conical to spherical, 7–13 cm in size and weigh up to 900 grams. They have creamy white, soft pulp with a pudding-like consistency and a sweet, refreshing taste with a hint of vanilla and pineapple. In terms of taste, Atemoya is one of the most delicious species of the Annona genus – its fruits win the hearts of all lovers of tropical fruits.

In our conditions, it is grown as a portable or indoor plant, preferably in a bright place at home by a window with diffused light. Young plants need protection from frost, adult specimens can withstand a slight drop in temperature for a short time.
